NOTES ON THE START OF THE WORLD JOG:

The Dublin marathon begins at 09.00 on 25th Oct.2010. I will run 4 hours 30 minutes fully equipped with my Chariot buggy. I will officially begin the world jog at the marathon finish line at 13:30 on the road opposite number 7  Merrion Square North. I have chosen the finish line of the marathon as my official start because I will be trying to end this world jog with a future Dublin marathon :)   So the start and finish locations have to be in the exact same spot. I will effectively be running the Dublin marathon as a prologue or a warm up for my world run!

The marathon km’swill not count towards my overall distance…. But the will surely if I can manage to time the finish with a future Dublin marathon. I am hoping and trying for 2013 but it could be 2014.

In many ways my start is going to be very strange! As I come up to the finish line I will not be stopping my stopwatch, I will in fact be starting it for the start of the World Jog! As many of my friends have come from all over the country to see me off, and especially my incredible crew man, Alan Young who has come over from Scotland… I can hardly just up and go! So, I have decided I will run around the block (stopwatch will still be running  but distance not counting) to get to the Mount Clare Hotel, which is located 50 mts before the finish line!  I will say farewell to my great running friends in the hotel. Around 3pm or 3.30 I will leave and run to a location near the South Circular Road where I will stay for the night as it it will be too late to run safely out of Dublin. My first days distance will be 3.2km.

I will then begin the World Jog in earnest at 8am Tuesday 26th October.

26/Oct/10. 8am start Clogher Road,Eamon Ceannt Park ,Sundrive Road,Crumlin,Long Mile Road, The Mad Cow,Naas, Newbridge,

Notes on the 26th: I lived on Sundrive Road and have run thousands of kilometers  in Eamon Ceannt Park over the last 20 odd years. It is about 1,500 mts around. I estimate I have run the equivalent of across America, Australia and Europe in this park in total distance over the years!  So, this will be a bit emotional as I run my farewell lap and run past my former home on Sundrive Road :(
